3D Artist and Video Editor
"Blackstar Sanctuary" is a 16 minute animated film and VR experience that I had the pleasure to work on with artists Mikael Owunna and Marques Redd and the Rainbow Serpent Collective. I worked as the 3D artist to create the animation and deliver the video with a version that could be projected across multiple walls for an installation, as well as a VR version to view on a headset.

I managed the 3D production with asset creation and integration, animation adjustments, shader and material editing, look dev, lighting, and level design. I then completed the video production by creating cameras, filming shots, and editing the film.
The six levels in the film were created using the amazing "Pharaoh's Legacy: Egyptian Temple" asset pack by Meshingun Studio as its base. The project called for the creation of 16 statue assets that were virtual photogrammetry scans of 16 real life sculptures of deities with intricate glass blown elements. I cleaned up the photogrammetry scans and used modeling, sculpting and texture painting to correct or rebuild any flaws from the scans. I then created custom versions of three existing statues with the new deity sculptures added to them by splicing the two statues together. This created the unique virtual statues seen only in animation.
The snake with animations was from an Unreal asset created by Dibia Digital. I was responsible for implementing the animation of the snake throughout the levels to tell the story of the film. I also customized the snake wrapping animation with three versions to fit the unique statues.
The next phase of production involved the virtual film production consisting of shot list creation, camera composition and movements, lighting, filming and editing
The final phase was to create the custom wall projection with the massive synced video projected across the four walls of the Pittsburgh Glass Center gallery. The entire room was filled by a unified images with synced video seamlessly stitched together in After Effects. This effect was used to the fullest at the beginning and ending chapters of the film where the all walls contained a massive seamless image that allowed the snake character to be seen in immense scale.
